Ficolo’s data center is located in Ulvila, in an underground tunnel network covering 8,500 square meters, originally quarried for the Finnish Defence Forces. We are able to offer our domestic customers the same location-based competitive advantage that foreign companies derive when they establish a data center in Finland.
Ficolo’s data center includes both dedicated and shared premises. Security covers the physical security of the colocation space as well as the data security of connections, network services and the server environment.
Finland is an ideal location for data centers. Security, infrastructure, fast telecommunications connections, the price of energy and energy-efficiency make Ficolo a very competitive alternative on the global scale.
Our data center is located outside of the most congested part of Finland, bringing us more cost benefits.
Thanks to our location in Ulvila, we are on average six times more affordable than data centers in London and fifty percent more affordable than data centers in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
Customers themselves need hardly notice the location, thanks to fast telecommunications. The physical location outside of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area also means higher security.
Ficolo’s data center environment can be accessed in a carrier-neutral way from different networks in Finland or internationally, via either the internet or LAN services.
Ficolo’s data center is located in a naturally cool network of underground tunnels, reducing the amount of energy needed for cooling, which improves energy efficiency. All electricity used by Ficolo comes from wind power, which is why Ficolo was especially highly rated in an energy consumption report compiled by Greenpeace in the spring of 2013.
